We’ve lost a legend. And it feels like a personal loss for so many of us, because we grew up on the comedy of Robin Williams. Whether you were a child in the age of Mork & Mindy or watched Mrs. Doubtfire every day after school, Robin Williams touched us all and brought light to our lives.
Rather than focus on his death, we’d like to celebrate his life and share some of the scripts for his best movies, our favorite quotes, and a few memorable images.
Thanks for the laughs, Robin. You are missed.
The Films:
Robin Williams doesn’t have any script credits to his name, but he was obviously an extraordinary comedy writer, developing classic material for decades. You can be sure he lent his own voice and humor to each of these scripts during production:
Quotes:
Do you think God gets stoned? I think so … look at the platypus.
When in doubt, go for the dick joke.
Most of all, I want to thank my father, up there, the man who when I said I wanted to be an actor, he said, ‘Wonderful. Just have a back-up profession like welding’.
Comedy is acting out optimism.
You’re only given one little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.
If you can find comedy that is personal, it will resonate more with the audience. For me it was great to have that after rehab. I had forgotten how fun working with your friends could be.
No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world.
What’s right is what’s left if you do everything else wrong.
